Transplanting macrophytes as a rehabilitation technique for lowland streams and their influence on macroinvertebrate assemblages

چکیده
Lowland streams are usually affected by river engineering works that produce the loss of habitat heterogeneity. Our aim was to assess transplantation macrophytes with different complexity into a lowland stream which dredged and widened. Stuckenia pectinata Hydrocleys nymphoides were collected at an extraction site installed transplant site. The growth coverage beds quantified. Taxonomic richness, Shannon-Wiener diversity, abundance, composition proportion functional feeding groups macroinvertebrate assemblage presented in macrophyte assessed between sites species. both did not differ significantly transplanted increased, therefore they established within short period. Regarding assemblage, only show differences sites. Moreover, predators same site, H. having higher proportion. study showed this technique is suitable for reintroducing these species applicable rehabilitation projects promote restoration heterogeneity deteriorated works. Also, we highlight importance incorporate traits ecological status after rehabilitation.

Spatial and Temporal Variability of Macroinvertebrate Assemblages in Boreal Streams: Implications for Conservation and Bioassessment
In this thesis, I studied spatial and temporal variability of macroinvertebrate assemblages of boreal streams. The main objectives were (i) to characterize macroinvertebrate assemblage types across large geographical extents, and to assess the utility of assemblage types and landscape and stream type classifications as the basis of stream bioassessment and conservation programs (ii, iii). I als...
متن کاملSeasonal variability of landuse impacts on macroinvertebrate assemblages in streams of western Georgia, USA
We examined the influence of land use/land cover (LULC) on macroinvertebrate assemblages and environmental conditions in streams draining 18 small watersheds in the Southern Outer Piedmont ecoregion in Georgia, USA, over a 24-mo period of record. Specifically, we analyzed relationships among LULC categories (i.e., % impervious surface [IS], pasture, silviculture, and deciduous/evergreen forest)...
متن کاملRelationships between water quality, habitat quality, and macroinvertebrate assemblages in Illinois streams.
The influence of specific stressors, such as nutrient enrichment and physical habitat degradation, on biotic integrity requires further attention in Midwestern streams. We sampled 53 streams throughout Illinois and examined relationships between macroinvertebrate community structure and numerous physicochemical parameters. Streams were clustered into four major groups based on taxa dissimilarit...
متن کاملLand use and the ecology of benthic macroinvertebrate assemblages of high-altitude rainforest streams in Uganda
1. In sub-Saharan Africa, tropical forests are increasingly threatened by accelerating rates of forest conversion and degradation. In East Africa, the larger tracts of intact rainforest lie largely in protected areas surrounded by converted landscape. Thus, there is critical need to understand the functional links between large-scale land use and changes in river conditions, and the implication...
متن کاملSpatial Distribution of Benthic Macroinvertebrate Assemblages in Relation to Environmental Variables in Korean Nationwide Streams
Conserving and enhancing freshwater biodiversity are global issues to ensure ecosystem integrity and sustainability. To meet this, it is critical to understand how the biological assemblages are determined by environmental gradients in different spatial scales. Nevertheless, information on their large-scale environmental relationships remains scarce in Korea. We aimed to understand nationwide s...
